Profile summary

Steve is a Data Scientist and Machine Leaning Engineer with strong mathematical, statistical and computational skills. He previously worked in the intersection of computational approaches and public health; and is greatly involved in the R open-source community and passionate about developing R packages. He has vast experience in data processing, analysis and mining; predictive modelling; machine learning and algorithm implementation.

Currently, he is a data scientist at African Population and Health Center and a Research Fellow with I-DAIR. Previously, he worked with Dalberg research as a data processing manager and African Population and Health Research Centre as a data scientist, both in Nairobi, Kenya. He also collaborates with MacTheobio research group.

Steve holds a PhD in Computational Science and Engineering (under supervision of Prof. Jonathan Dushoff and Prof. Benjamin Bolker) from McMaster University (Canada), an MSc in Mathematical Sciences from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and a BSc in Applied Statistics with Computing from Maasai Mara University (Kenya).
